God is the creator of everything. He made the stars, planets, and animals, but most importantly, He made you! He loves you! We know this from John 3:16, “For God so loved the world…” That verse is talking about you and the rest of the people of the world! You could even put your name in this verse! God is perfect and holy, meaning that He has never done anything wrong. But you and I have a problem…
We all have done wrong things called sin. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Sin is anything you think, say, or do that breaks the law of God. Roman 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death.” Death means separation, but the separation this verse is talking about is far worse than anything you could ever imagine. It means being forever separated from God. But God doesn’t want us to be separated from Him…
God sent His perfect son, Jesus, to come and save us. Jesus never did any sins and preformed many miracles in His life on earth. This is because Jesus is God, and he loves us so much, that he died for us. 1Corinthans 15:3-4, “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” Jesus did not have to die for you, but He willingly did so on the cross because He loves you. All who receive Him will live with Him forever. Once you believe in Jesus, you become a child of God, and He will forgive your sins.
If you want to accept this free gift from God, and have Jesus to save you from your sins, you must tell God that you believe in His son. In Romans 10:9 it says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” If you would like to receive Jesus, then pray this prayer or one like it… “Dear God, I know I’ve sinned, and I’ve fallen short of your glory. Please forgive me. I know that your Son, Jesus Christ, died for me and I want His forgiveness. In the name of Jesus, Amen.” (Note: It is not the prayer that saves you it is only the belief that Jesus is God and died for our sins and rose again the third day.) Once you accept Jesus as your savior, He promises to never leave you. Hebrews 13:5b “I will never leave thee.” Hebrews 13:6b “The Lord is my helper.”
When you do accept Jesus as your savior, God wants you to learn more about Him and how He wants us to live for Him. 2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” We can do that by remembering GROW.
G: Go to church, so you can learn more about Jesus.
R: Read God’s word; The Bible.
O: Obey Gods word and the authorities He puts in your life.
W: Witness; share the Good News about Jesus, and lead others to Christ.
If we remember to do these things, we will learn more about God and His son.
Obedience to God means following His laws and honoring Him and Jesus with our lives. The Bible tells us many things that we need to do and not to as we go through life, and as we continue to GROW, God promises to show us more of how to live like Jesus.
We are not perfect, however, and will make mistakes. We will sin even after we are saved, but it’s important to know that God loves you even still. He will forgive your sins if you ask Him, and you will always be His child. Remember to always do your best for Him, and He will help you through whatever happens in your life.
